Hong Kong - The City Without Car

Hong Kong spent so much space in the city for vehicles usages. Especially for car parks, which is a single function space yet extremely necessary for automobile base city. The research brings up the strategy that Hong Kong does not need cars. Instead, the space should be use to expand dwellings in this dents city.

The existing building within radiance of 400m. from MTR station will be remove to create pedestrian based city. This project is an experiment to visualize the possibility of Hong Kong City without cars.



As the dome has the radius of 400 m., hence the entire destinations within the dome is 
reachable from the MTR within 5-10 minutes walk.


A dome replaces the pre-existing automobile-based city. The proposed urban planning within the parameter of the dome, Wan chai will develop into the pedestrian-based city.

Experimental Designs

Circulation: The tube is connecting from the circumference direct to the MTR.

 The zoning: The red panel represents the interface between the two zonings; 
Green area and residential area.

 The recreational area is inserted between residential area (red) and office area (blue). 
The open area also allow for the further extension and multi-purpose usage.
